How do I set up Navigate Pro?

Navigate Pro can be set up to work as either a partner to your phone or as a softphone, giving you the status of colleagues phones, one click calling / call transfer, full call history and easy directory access. If you would like to use Navigate Pro as a softphone you'll need a license first

Navigate Pro only works on Windows 10 / 11

Partner

  1. Download and Install Navigate Pro using the link provided.
    Windows will ask for administrator approval to do the installation, stay logged in as the normal user of the PC but use an Administrator's details to permit the installation.

  2. As you have run the installation at the Administrative level the configuration doesn't want to save in the normal User profile. Accept the warnings.

  3. Set the firewall to Allow Access in both Private and Public Networks.

  4. Close Navigate Pro, then restart Navigate Pro as the normal user of the PC via the normal Windows program menu.

  5. Click the 'cogs' icon then click 'User Configuration'

  6. Select Advanced 🡺 Partner

    • IP address is normally splicecom.yourdomain i.e. splicecom.bloggs.co.uk but check this with CTi

    • CP – Tick this enables Centralised Partner mode

    • Number is your Extension Number

    • Login Code is on the list CTi gave you

    • Select the Network Interface with an IP address

  7. Click the restart button

  8. Navigate Pro is now set up to partner your phone

Softphone

  1. Download and Install Navigate Pro using the link provided.

  6. Select Advanced 🡺 Softphone

    • Gatekeeper is normally splicecom.yourdomain i.e. splicecom.bloggs.co.uk but check this with CTi

    • Port is 5000

    • Hotdesk Number is your Extension Number

    • Hotdesk Code is on the list CTi gave you

    • Tick 'SSL Enable'

    • Ensure your headset is connected and select its model from the Speech drop down list

    • Select the Network Interface with an IP address

  7. Click the restart button

The next steps need to be done by a system manager or CTi will do them for you. If you would like CTi to do them, please call us on 01242 621644

  1. Log onto the SpliceCom SV1000 https://<IP address>/manager/admin or https://splicecom.<yourdomain>/manager/admin

  2. Click Phones 🡺 Unassigned Phones

  3. Find the MAC address of computer with the softphone on to be added (there should only be one) – this is a security verification for the computer

  4. Select "Add Phone Only" from the drop-down then click the "Assign Phones" button

  5. If Navigate Pro hasn't connected after a few seconds, in Navigate Pro Softphone user configuration click restart.

  6. Navigate Pro should now be connected

  7. If this computer is to be used on Wired AND Wi-Fi, connect to the Internet using the other connection and repeat 8) to 13)

  8. This computer / Navigate Pro is now setup

Tips

  • To make it easy to access, drag and drop the icon from the Hidden to the Main icon tray.

  • If you would like Navigate Pro to start with your computer you can tick Auto Launch, which is under Settings 🡺 User Configuration 🡺 General.
    You can also mute sounds coming from your PC while on a call, e.g. Music or Video, by ticking the 'Mute Other Sounds' box

  • If you want to see the status of other people / groups on the system also have click and dial / click and transfer, then set the Favourites to launch when Navigate Pro starts.
    This is under Settings 🡺 User Configuration 🡺 Advanced 🡺 Favourite Panel.

  • If you would like Navigate Pro to Check for Updates you can tick Updates, which is under Settings 🡺 User Configuration 🡺 Advanced 🡺 System Info.
    If a new version of Navigate Pro is available, then the task bar icon will show a red spot to denote an update is available, you will also see a message window.

  • If you want to edit your Favourites, this is under Settings 🡺 User Configuration 🡺 Favourite.
    An easy way to add a Favourites is in Call History, right click the number, and then click the heart icon

Notes for Administrators

Seamlessly working in / out of the office

When configured in softphone mode, Navigate Pro normally connects to your Public IP address on port 5000 that is forwarded to the SpliceCom phone system gateway.

When configured in Partner mode, Navigate Pro normally connects to the Public IP address on port 4018 that is forwared to the SpliceCom phone system.

However, when in the office on the office network this forwarding may not work - you then need to use the Internal IP address of the SpliceCom phone system gateway or SpliceCom phone system.
So your users don't need to keep changing the IP address in their app, you need to make a couple of new DNS records:

  • In your public DNS record set splicecom.<YourDomainName> to point to your Public IP address

  • On your internal DNS server set splicecom.<YourDomainName> to point to the Internal IP address of the SpliceCom phone system gateway / SpliceCom phone system.


Your users then enter splicecom.<YourDomainName> into the "Address" or "Gateway" setting in Navigate Pro app


Registry Access

If your computers are locked down then you may need to tweak some Registry settings. Navigate Pro needs the user to have read and write accesses to some Registry folders, in particular:

  • Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Splicecom

  • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Splicecom

  • To allow Navigate Pro to auto-startup it needs access to NavigateSfbAutoStartupWithoutSfb in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
