Wireless network products connect laptop, notebook and desktop PCs together without using any conventional network cables (wires). For locations where wiring would be inconvenient, unsightly or impractical, wireless is an optimal solution for convenience and freedom of movement. Combining DECT technology with wireless LAN solutions, a fully cable-free office is possible. DECT phones, digitally enhanced cordless telephony, supports from a single phone with base station at your desk to full site coverage for a network of handsets using multiple repeaters. |

CTi install, supply and maintain routers either a) as part of the telephone system or b) for ADSL connectivity.
If you need your network to connect to another network, ie office-office or office-internet, then you need a router. The router acts as a gateway for requests outside of your network and will take traffic to and from the destination(s).
Many routers will only route to one destination (ie it provides connection to the internet OR connecton to another office, but not both). The routers CTi supply will route to many destinations simultaneously enabling all authorised users on your network to retrieve the requested information from the relevant destination.
CTi will provide and configure firewalls: we recommend you use a firewall on any internet connection.

Whether you use a dial-up modem or a permanent connection to the internet (i.e. ADSL) you are vuneralble to attack from malicious internet users. Most routers implement NAT (network address translation) which will hide your internal IP address from the real ones on the internet - this goes some way towards protecting your network but for piece of mind we suggest a solution implementing both NAT and a Firewall. Personal firewall software can be installed on each machine on your network, however this presents certain risks. Untrained users may shut the application down, or respond in an incorrect way to an alert message. A much better approach is to have a firewall incorporated into the router or as a separate box entirely. This presents you with one point of administration and minimal risk of settings being unwitingly altered. Remember, A firewall is only as good as its configuration; a poorly configured firewall is as bad as not having one at all. This is why we recommend having your Firewall installed by people who know all the intricities involved in configuring and maintaining it. |
